Resumen

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of mobile microlearning in promoting learning retention and motivation among higher education students. A quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design was conducted through a strategy based on brief and sequential learning units accessible from mobile devices. The results obtained before and after the intervention were compared, and students' evaluation of the main characteristics of the strategy was analyzed. The results showed an increase in average academic performance, from 6.8 points in the initial assessment to 8.5 in the post-assessment. Likewise, the characteristics of mobile microlearning received favorable evaluations, particularly flexibility to learn at one's own pace and ease of access. Improvements in student motivation were also observed, especially in autonomy, interest, and participation. It is concluded that this strategy has potential to complement formative processes through technological resources integrated with a structured pedagogical design oriented toward students' needs.
