- Education and Social Sciences

Periodicity

The journal follows a four-month publication schedule: January–April, May–August, and September–December. Each issue is published fifteen days after the last month of the respective period.

Target Audience

The Noesis Journal is intended for students, professors, researchers, and the general public who are passionate about and interested in scientific research and dissemination. The journal is published in digital format (ISSN: 3078-6983) and is available in both Spanish and English as its primary languages.

Peer-Review System and Publication Standards

The Noesis Journal is a peer-reviewed cientific journal that employs an external evaluation system by experts, using the double-blind review methodology. Citation and publication guidelines follow the standards of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Adhering to this system ensures that submitted works receive an impartial and objective review process. Additionally, this system facilitates the journal’s inclusion in international reference databases, repositories, and indexing services.

Guidelines for Authors

Note: The Noesis Journal only accepts original work to be considered for publication. The use of the DeCS or MeSH thesaurus will be encouraged when selecting keywords for articles in the Health Sciences; for the Social Sciences and Humanities, the UNESCO Thesaurus; and for Agriculture and Marine Sciences, the AGROVOC Thesaurus.

Process for the Publication of Articles

The editorial timeline is as follows:

- 3 days for the initial response from the section editor or for the manuscript to be forwarded for peer review.
- 10 to 20 days for the editor’s response based on the observations made by the peer reviewers.
- 1 to 3 months after acceptance for the article to be published on the journal’s website.

Authors must submit their manuscripts through the OJS platform and will be duly informed of the submission deadlines.

As an initial stage, the journal will consider the area of study, subject matter, format, and relevance of the manuscript. Authors will then be notified of one of the following decisions:

1. The manuscript has entered the peer-review stage. Reviewers will be academics recognized as experts in the subject area of the manuscript. This process will take approximately ten calendar days and will be conducted in accordance with the evaluation form available on the OJS platform. In addition, the review process will follow the double-blind method for both authors and reviewers. This means that reviewers will receive the manuscript without any identifying information about the authors, and authors will receive the reviewers’ comments without access to the reviewers’ identities. If the evaluations are not consistent, a third review may be requested in accordance with the double-blind review standard. Reviewers will perform their duties under principles of confidentiality and impartiality.

2. The manuscript is rejected because it does not fall within the scope of the journal or because it does not comply with the journal’s required format.

Once the manuscript has been reviewed and submitted to the editorial committee, the authors will be notified accordingly.

If the manuscript is accepted by the editorial committee, the authors must sign a Declaration of Originality and an Authorization for Publication and Reproduction Rights, thereby granting permission for the work to be included in national and international databases, websites, and electronic platforms (see the Declaration of Originality and Declaration of Conflict of Interest forms). Authors bear full responsibility for the content of their manuscripts, including the text, tables, figures, and any additional material submitted for publication. Likewise, the opinions expressed in the article are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the editorial committee.

3. The manuscript cannot be published because the required revisions are too extensive or because it does not meet the standards of The Noésis Journal.

4. The manuscript requires minor revisions that may be addressed for subsequent publication. In such cases, the author or authors will have 15 calendar days to resubmit the revised manuscript together with a letter describing the changes made.

The editorial committee will assess whether the requested revisions have been satisfactorily addressed and, if deemed necessary, may send the manuscript back to the reviewer. The final decision on publication will depend on the agreement between the academic reviewer and the editorial committee, taking into account the observations previously made. If the authors disagree with the reviewers’ evaluations, they must submit a formal letter explaining and justifying their position regarding the comments received. The journal reserves the right to edit manuscripts without altering their meaning.

Manuscript Structure

Length: The manuscript must not exceed 12 pages in total.

Empirical research papers, as well as literature review articles, must follow the IDMRC structure (Introduction, Development, Methodology, Results, and Conclusions). An Acknowledgments section may be included after the Conclusions, although it is optional. If the manuscript includes a Discussion section, it must be integrated within the Results section. Studies involving animals or human participants in medical or psychological trials must provide the corresponding supporting documentation (e.g., experimental records, medications, dosages, etc.), which must be attached as annexes.

Title (Spanish): Written in Calibri 14, with a maximum of 12 words. The title must be general, without acronyms or final punctuation. Due to indexing requirements, the Editorial Board may suggest modifications to the title.

Authors: Authors’ names must be placed in text boxes without borders or background fill. Each text box must include: the author’s full name without academic titles, in Calibri 10; the full ORCID URL; institutional email address; institutional affiliation; and the city and country of residence. The text boxes must be arranged in two columns: the first row for the first two authors, the second row for the third and fourth authors, and so on, up to a maximum of six authors. If the total number of authors is odd, the final author must be centered in the corresponding row.

Abstract (Spanish): Written in Calibri 10, with a maximum length of 150 words. The abstract must clearly and concisely describe the content of the article so that readers can quickly identify the topic, main findings, and implications of the research.

Keywords (Spanish): Written in Calibri 10, in lowercase, and separated by commas.

Title (English): Written in Calibri 12, with a maximum of 12 words, following the same guidelines established for the Spanish title.

Abstract (English): Must follow the same guidelines as the Spanish abstract.

Keywords (English): Must follow the same guidelines as the Spanish keywords.

I. Introduction: Written in Calibri 11. This section presents the background of the research, progressing from the general context to the specific problem addressed.

II. Development: This section includes the theoretical and conceptual foundations of the study. It should incorporate the references and mathematical arguments supporting the research, as well as contextual elements relevant to the topic. Subheadings, figures, and tables may be included when they are directly relevant to the study.

III. Methodology: Written in Calibri 11. This section must focus on the processes, steps, and phases of the work carried out. It should not include theoretical foundations, definitions, or citations.

IV. Results: Written in Calibri 11. This section must present the findings derived from the research objectives. Figures should be accompanied by explanatory descriptions in the surrounding paragraphs. Discussion of the findings should also be integrated into this section in a coherent and well-organized manner. There is no separate Discussion section, although discussion may be incorporated within the Results section. Additional guidance is available in the downloadable template.

Conclusions: Written in Calibri 11. The conclusions must relate exclusively to the contributions of the study. Numbering may be used if preferred. Avoid repeating information already presented in the abstract. Conclusions may emphasize the significance of the study, suggest practical applications, or propose future lines of research. Do not restate findings already discussed in the Results or in other sections of the manuscript.

Appendix: Written in Calibri 11. Appendices should be included here when necessary.

Acknowledgment: Use the singular form of the heading even when multiple acknowledgments are included. Avoid expressions such as “One of us (S.B.A.) would like to thank…”. Instead, write in a direct form such as “F. A. acknowledges…”. Only acknowledgments to institutions, foundations, data laboratories, and similar entities are accepted. Personal acknowledgments are not permitted.

References: Citations and references must be prepared using Microsoft Word’s citation editor and must follow the IEEE style. References must be numbered consecutively in square brackets, for example, [1]. The sentence period should appear after the bracket, as in [2]. Multiple references should be cited separately, for example, [2], [3], or as a range, for example, [1]–[3]. When citing a section of a book, please indicate the relevant page numbers [2]. Within the text, refer simply to the reference number, as in [3]. Do not use “Ref. [3]” or “reference [3]” except at the beginning of a sentence, for example: “Reference [3] shows…”.

Please note that all references must follow the preferred IEEE format. All authors must be listed; do not use “et al.” unless there are six or more authors. A space must be placed after each author’s initials. Unpublished documents should be cited as “unpublished” [4]. Documents that have been submitted or accepted for publication should be cited as “submitted for publication” [5]. Please also include affiliations and addresses for personal communications [6].

Capitalize only the first word of the document title, except for proper nouns and chemical or scientific symbols.
