Abstract
Personal data protection regulations have introduced new challenges for the organizational management of Ecuadorian SMEs, particularly in contexts with limited institutional capacities. This study analyzed the main regulatory challenges associated with their implementation and their impact on internal management processes. Using a documentary and analytical approach, regulatory provisions and specialized literature were reviewed. The results show that, while the regulations strengthen governance and the protection of rights, they also impose administrative burdens that require the strengthening of institutional capacities, organizational training, and process adaptation to ensure effective and sustainable implementation.
